Where are you growing your bean?
Siobhan: I’m growing my beans in my parents backyard in a 12 x 4ft raised bed.
Sarah: Lake Oswego, OR
What is your connection to the bean? Why did you choose this particular bean?
Siobhan: I chose the Papa de Rola bean because it’s an heirloom variety that was brought to the US from Portugal. On my mom’s side, her grandfather a Portuguese immigrant that was a Master Gardener and landscaper on the Kennedy estate in Rhode Island. I wanted to grow a bean from Portugal as well to connect with that side of the family.
Sarah: The second bean I chose is the Pepe de Rola, an heirloom bean from Portugal. I chose this one because I have Portuguese roots, specifically the Azores.
