Native Plant Walk and Seed Collection

Join the NYU Seed Library and the Native Greenbelt Plant Center for our first native plant walk! Patrick Over, one of the city’s official seed collectors, will lead our group in identifying native species that enhance our local biodiversity and help to advance the conservation and sustainability of existing habitats and restoration sites across the NYC-metro region. Together we’ll scout for new wild plants and collect seeds from native species to add to the NYC Parks seed bank.

During this event, the NYU Seed Library will be sharing heirloom bean and other vegetable varieties that have been donated by regional seed companies or grown out by Food Studies students, alumni, and faculty. All seed are free, and seed packets, growing instructions, and other supplies will be provided.
Bean Project Potluck and Story Share
